This past Friday, while getting giggly on a glass of wine - i received an education in music. A good education in music.
While i refuse to admit that i could potentially be a music snob - i silently note my friend's choices in music. I may not do anything with these mental notes, but i take said notes, none-the-less. (Fine, i may judge a little)
Up until Friday i thought i was well versed in alternative, indie, punk/funk.
I.was.so.wrong.
The person i was getting giggly with happened to be an ex-radio disc jockey with music tastes similar to mine. The night ended with me furiously scribbling down the names of 50 bands/artists/song on the back of receipts out of my wallet. Had it not been time to go home, this exercise might have continued for many, many hours.
So, after three nights of you-tubing and i-tuning, here are my favorites from my Friday Night Education.
1. Chromeo - fancy footwork, bonafide lovin, night by night
2. Iron & Wine - Boy with a coin (LOVE this song), Naked as we Came
3. Local Natives - Wide Eyes, Who Knows Who Cares, Sun Hands
4. Data Rock - Fa Fa Fa Fa
5. Broken Bells - The High Road, Tough Set of Judges - The Ghost Inside, Your
Head is on Fire.
6. The Decemberists - This is why we fight, Rox in the Box,
7. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Garden
Thank you Mr. DJ.
Good Night All :)
